Ukraine confirms first NASAMS delivery

Summary
A retrospective on the air-defence milestone announced on 7 November 2022, alongside a regional economic footnote from Georgia.
What did Ukraine gain on 7 November 2022? Kyiv confirmed that it had received the first delivery of the NASAMS surface-to-air missile system, one of the foreign-aid shipments arriving during the Russian invasion.
Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov said the system would significantly strengthen Ukraine's armed forces. The announcement was brief, and it placed the delivery within the wider flow of foreign aid to Ukraine during the war.
A regional echo
The war's effects were also visible beyond Ukraine's borders. On 5 November 2022, the Voice of America reported that Georgia was receiving an economic boost from the conflict. Output was expected to grow a vigorous 10% in 2022 amid a consumption-led boom.
As reported at the time, this was due largely to refugees arriving from Russia who were seeking to avoid conscription or a crackdown on dissent.
Together, the two items show different sides of the same war: military support arriving in Ukraine, and economic change in a neighbouring country.
