A difficult week for the city
The shooting came days after another incident in Dnipro. On 22 January 2022, a fire broke out at the central office of the ATB corporation in the city.
Elsewhere in Ukraine, the national public broadcaster had announced on 24 January 2022 the list of finalists in the selection of Ukraine's entry for the Eurovision song contest.
The Dnipro shooting was the most serious of these events, both in the number of casualties and in its immediate consequence: the departure of the head of the National Guard.
