Summary

A look back at strikes in Mykolaiv and Delyatyn, a Russian commander's death, shelling in Zaporizhzhia and a long call between Washington and Beijing.

What did the war in Ukraine look like on 18 March 2022? It was a day of heavy strikes in the south and west, a reported high-ranking Russian loss, and a lengthy diplomatic call between the United States and China.

Separately, Andrei Mordvichev, commander of Russia's 8th Combined Arms Army in the Southern Military District, was killed in a Ukrainian strike on the airbase at Chornobaivka.

Shelling in Zaporizhzhia

Nine people died after Russian shelling hit Zaporizhzhia, according to reports from the day, as part of the fighting around the city.
