What was in the news in the days before 14 February 2023? Two reports stand out from the preceding week, one on diplomacy and one on the border between Poland and Belarus.
On 8 February 2023, it was reported that after a visit to the United Kingdom, Zelensky would travel on to France. There he was due to meet President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
On 9 February 2023, Poland announced that it was closing a major border crossing with Belarus until further notice, amid heightened tensions between the two countries. Only two checkpoints remained open between them.
