What happened on 3 February 2026 in Ukraine?

Summary
A look back at a day of Russian drone and missile strikes that followed a brief pause on hits to Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
What did the war look like on 3 February 2026? It was a day of renewed Russian strikes, coming after a brief moratorium on attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
As reported at the time, Russian forces launched drones and cruise missiles across Ukraine, including Zircon missiles. Kyiv and Kharkiv were among the regions targeted.
In Zaporizhzhia, a Russian drone strike killed two civilians and wounded eight others on the same day.
The days before
The strikes followed several days of violence. On 1 February 2026, a Russian drone hit a minibus carrying mineworkers in Dnipro, killing at least 15 people and injuring seven.
On 2 February 2026, a Ukrainian drone strike killed two people in Stary Oskol, in Russia's Belgorod Oblast. The Russian Defence Ministry said 22 Ukrainian drones were shot down during the overnight attack, which also led several regional airports to suspend flights.
A separate development
Also on 1 February 2026, SpaceX shut down Starlink internet terminals across Ukraine, except those previously approved by Ukraine's Ministry of Defence. The reason given was evidence that Russian forces were using the service in military operations.
