Canada presses Iran over Flight 752 recorders

Summary
A look back at the diplomatic push for access to the flight recorders of the Ukrainian airliner shot down near Tehran in January 2020.
What did Canada want from Iran as of 6 March 2020? Access to the flight recorders of Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752, the Ukrainian passenger plane shot down two months earlier.
On 4 March 2020, Canadian Foreign Minister François-Philippe Champagne urged Iran to allow access to the recorders. The appeal came as the question of what the black boxes held remained unresolved.
The flight
Flight 752 was a scheduled international service from Tehran to Kyiv, operated by Ukraine International Airlines. On 8 January 2020, the Boeing 737-800 flying the route was shot down by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps shortly after takeoff. All 176 people on board were killed.
The call from Ottawa, made two days before the covered date, showed that the recorders were still a point of diplomatic pressure nearly two months after the crash.
