What did Energoatom's Westinghouse deal involve?

Summary

A look back at the Khmelnytskyi nuclear agreement and two other regional reports from mid-November 2021.

What was agreed on the Khmelnytskyi nuclear site, and what else was happening around the region by 23 November 2021? According to reports dated 22 November 2021, the state company Energoatom and the American electrical company Westinghouse Electric signed an agreement to build two new nuclear power units for the Khmelnytskyi nuclear power plant.

The regional picture that week also included security and investigative stories. On 17 November 2021, Estonia summoned 1,700 reservists for a snap drill. The exercise was to include installing a 40-kilometre razor wire barrier along the border with Russia, as the migrant crisis between Belarus and the European Union intensified.

On the same date, 17 November 2021, Bellingcat and The Insider published the first part of their joint investigation into what was called Wagnergate.

Taken together, the reports from the days before 23 November 2021 show an energy deal signed in Ukraine, border preparations in Estonia and an investigative series released by two outlets.
