What did 20 April 2020 follow in Chornobyl and orbit?
Summary
A look back at two reports from the days before 20 April 2020: a large fire in the Chornobyl exclusion zone and a Russian missile test.
What had the days before 20 April 2020 brought to Ukraine and its neighbourhood? Two reports stand out from the period leading up to that date.
On 14 April 2020, it was reported that the most extensive forest fires in the Chornobyl exclusion zone, which had lasted 10 days, had burned 3,500 hectares of land.
On 15 April 2020, United States Space Command said that Russia had conducted a direct-ascent anti-satellite missile test.
The two reports concerned very different matters, one an environmental emergency inside Ukraine's exclusion zone and the other a military test announced by a US command. Both were in the public record by 20 April 2020.
