Shevchenko Prize winners and Fidesz's EPP exit

Summary
A look back at the Shevchenko Prize laureates named on 9 March 2021 and at Fidesz's departure from the EPP days earlier.
Who won Ukraine's Shevchenko Prize, and what was happening in European politics around it? On 9 March 2021, the 2021 laureates of the Shevchenko Prize were named: Oksana Lutsyshyna, Stanislav Aseyev, Valentyn Vasyanovych, Borys Mykhailov, Oleksandra Andrusyk, Yevhen Shymalskyi, Kateryna Sula, Serhiy Masloboyshchykov, Natalia Rudiuk and Oleksandr Behma.
A separate story from Brussels
Six days earlier, on 3 March 2021, Hungary's ruling party Fidesz withdrew from the European People's Party (EPP), the conservative bloc in the European Parliament. The move followed an EPP rule change that allowed it to expel a party's entire delegation.
Fidesz's membership had already been suspended since 2019. The suspension came after the party accused then-European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and philanthropist George Soros of conspiring to "flood" Europe with migrants during a national campaign.
