Summary

A look back at the central bank's leadership change and its new coin announcement in mid-March 2018.

What was happening at Ukraine's central bank on 19 March 2018? The institution had just gone through a change at the top, days after it announced changes to the country's small change.

On 15 March 2018, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed Valeriya Hontareva as head of the National Bank of Ukraine and appointed Yakiv Smolii in her place.

A day earlier, on 14 March 2018, the National Bank had presented new coins in denominations of 2, 5 and 10 hryvnias. It also announced that it would stop minting small-denomination coins.
